What’s included in the Body Program?

With access to revolutionary semaglutide (GLP-1) medication, ongoing provider care, and lifestyle coaching, we set you up for long-term success by arming you with the tools you need to lose weight—and keep it off.

Ongoing provider care

You’ll have 1:1 access to a Ro-affiliated healthcare provider that you can message any time. Want to discuss your treatment plan or progress? Optional consultations via video call (up to 24/year) are included in the cost of the program.

Insurance coverage support

Getting medication covered through insurance can be a headache. Our insurance concierge partners will help to get the cost of your medication covered.

Access to GLP-1 medication, like Ozempic, Wegovy, or Saxenda

GLP-1 medication is clinically proven to help people lose weight. It works by making you feel fuller, reducing cravings, and helping your body process sugars more efficiently. (Medication cost is not included in the Body Program monthly cost.)

Metabolic test

Through a lab test, we’ll learn how your body’s working right now. Why do we do this? Because losing weight is about your body’s biology, not just your willpower.

You can use your insurance to take your lab test at a Quest location (which accepts most insurance) or purchase an at-home blood collection kit from Ro. In certain states where Quest is not available, we’ll send you an at-home blood collection kit at no extra charge.

Dedicated health coach

Your personal health coach is just a message away and is here to offer expert advice. They’ll help you get the most out of the program as well as giving encouragement and support when you need it.

Weight loss tips and strategies

Every week we’ll send you an email with expert tips and strategies on lifestyle, diet, exercise, sleep, and more. Learning these healthy habits will set you up for long-term success.

get help finding insurance coverage for weight loss medication

Our insurance concierge partners will work to find you coverage for medication.

Here's how they'll do it:

We know this can be a headache, so the team will take care of communicating with your insurance company. They’ll even handle the paperwork.

The team will look into the medication options that are right for you. If you get denied for one medication, they’ll look for other options that are clinically appropriate for you. And, once approved, the team will send your prescription to your preferred pharmacy.

If your insurance doesn’t cover the cost of your medication, the team will see if there are patient access programs that would help reduce your out-of-pocket cost. If you want to explore cash pay options, they’ll help you figure out the available options in your area.

Weight loss FAQs

It’s $99 for your initial health and medication consult, then a membership cost of $145/month for ongoing treatment support. Your monthly membership starts when your prescription is sent to your pharmacy.

Please note that GLP-1 medication is billed separately and not covered in the program cost. Medication cost will depend on your treatment and personal insurance coverage.

Insurance concierge services for the cost of medications are provided through the Body Program. Our partners will work directly with your insurance provider to help with the process of determining coverage for your GLP-1 medication, which is paid for separately from the Body Program. Ro does not accept insurance for the Body Program, which is cash pay only. At this time, those with any form of government healthcare coverage (including programs such as Medicare, Medicare Supplement Plans, Medicaid or TRICARE), whether primary or secondary, or federal employee plans are not eligible for the Body Program. These plans typically do not cover the type of medication the Body Program may prescribe. Unfortunately, this means that those on Medicare or eligible for Medicare cannot join the Body Program.

Federal employees who receive their health insurance through the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEHB) may participate in the Body Program.

If for some reason your insurance will not cover the cost of your medication, you’ll have the option to either pay for the medication out of pocket (typically $900–$1,600/month, depending on the medication) or cancel your Body Program membership. Given the cost of initial diagnostics, ongoing provider support, and insurance assistance, we are unable to offer refunds for previously incurred monthly membership fees.

Due to significant demand, Novo Nordisk — the manufacturer of Wegovy, Ozempic, and Saxenda — expects supply shortages of some of these medications. Novo Nordisk is anticipating that demand for Wegovy will continue to outpace supply. Patients may have difficulty filling Wegovy prescriptions at the lower doses of 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, and 1 mg and Saxenda prescriptions through the remainder of 2023 and potentially beyond. We’ve seen that around half of patients are still unable to get access to the impacted Wegovy doses or Saxenda doses after 1 month of waiting.

Ro and Ro-affiliated providers are taking additional steps to support new and existing patients on their weight loss journeys. If you’re prescribed a GLP-1 medication and there’s more than a 30-day delay from the time your prescription is sent to the pharmacy to when it is filled, we’ll issue a credit to your account so that your next month of the Body Program is free. Read eligibility requirements here.

For patients who are prescribed Wegovy or Saxenda and are on their pharmacy's waitlist, our concierge is contacting your pharmacy periodically to check on the status of your prescription.

A provider may also make adjustments to a treatment plan for a patient on Wegovy or Saxenda if they determine it’s clinically appropriate. These adjustments may include prescribing alternate GLP-1 medications (if appropriate), working with you to create a personalized treatment plan, or recommending adjustments to diet, lifestyle, and current fitness activities.

For patients just getting started, the first steps in the Body Program are unaffected by the supply shortages — including taking a metabolic lab test and connecting with a provider to review their health history. If a provider ultimately determines Wegovy or Saxenda is a good fit, the sooner a patient joins the program, the sooner our team can get to work trying to find medication in stock at a pharmacy nearby.

After you complete your online visit, a Ro-affiliated healthcare provider will review your answers and determine whether treatment may be right for you. If appropriate, we’ll ask you to complete a metabolic test so we can see how your body’s working right now. Next, you’ll go over the results of your test with your healthcare provider and discuss a personalized treatment plan.
