Starting the Body Program
🚀 General
The Body membership is a comprehensive obesity care program that begins with completing an online visit and a metabolic test (either with an at-home blood collection kit or by visiting a nearby Quest lab) to get a clear picture of your health history as well as what biological factors may be influencing your weight.
You’ll then connect with your Ro-affiliated healthcare provider to review your lab results and determine an appropriate treatment plan. The cost of medication is not included in the Body membership. But if you’re prescribed a GLP-1 medication, you’ll have the option to pay cash to get medication quickly or work with our insurance concierge to try and secure coverage. If you want to try and use insurance, Ro’s concierge will help determine if coverage is possible based on your benefits.
Once the program begins, you’ll have optional provider consults (up to 24 total per year) and a dedicated health coach you can message any time.
From start to finish, the Body membership is designed to give you access to clinically proven prescription treatment and ongoing support needed to help you reach your weight loss goals.
Common Questions
We know you’re excited to get started with treatment. But for that to happen, a provider must determine that this treatment is a good fit for you. Then, our partner works to see if insurance costs could be covered and to find your medication.
Here’s a glimpse of what the timeline to treatment looks like:
Provider reviews your information: After you finish your online visit, a Ro-affiliated provider takes a look at your health history and information to see if you qualify for treatment. This review takes about 2-3 days.
Lab test, if needed: Depending on your health review, your provider may order a metabolic lab test to understand your body’s biology.
If you’re getting an at-home blood collection kit, one should arrive about 4 days after your provider has reviewed your health history. If you opted to get the blood drawn in person at Quest, you should be able to schedule and take the test in about the same time.
Getting insurance coverage: If a GLP-1 is prescribed, our partner will work with your insurance company to help get medication costs covered. This process can take about 2–3 weeks, but could take longer if the initial coverage request is denied. If you choose to pay cash for medication, you’ll skip the insurance step.
Starting on your medication: If you move forward with treatment, we’ll send your prescription to your preferred pharmacy. The timeframe of this process can vary by pharmacy and may be impacted by ongoing delays in finding medication in stock..
If you're prescribed Zepbound single-dose vials, the medication is in stock and will ship to you within 1-4 days. The vials aren’t eligible for insurance coverage.
If you’re prescribed a compounded semaglutide, we’ll send your prescription to our pharmacy partner and it can be filled and sent to you within 1-4 days. Compounded semaglutide isn’t eligible for insurance coverage.
A lot is going on behind the scenes. If prescribed, our insurance partners and affiliated providers will work hard to help get medication to you as quickly as possible. You can track where you are in the treatment timeline by viewing your program tracker.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide a GLP-1 prescription without participation in the Body membership. This offering is inclusive of consultation, metabolic testing, insurance prior authorization support, pharmacy location services, and ongoing provider support under the umbrella of the monthly fee.
The Body membership costs $99 for your first month, followed by a monthly membership cost of $145/month for ongoing support. Your first $145/month membership charge will begin once your prescription is sent to a pharmacy.
However, if you opt to pay cash and are prescribed compounded semaglutide, your first month will total $249, inclusive of both the medication and membership fee. After your first month, you’ll pay $299 for medication and $145 for your ongoing membership.
Please note that branded GLP-1 medication is not covered in the program cost. Medication costs will depend on your medication and any personal insurance coverage used. Our partners will work with your insurer to help determine coverage.
