Lesson 1
What’s your body story?
Raise your hand if you’ve ever tried a weight loss plan and found it hard to either lose the weight or keep it off–even if you did everything right.
If you raised your hand, you're not alone. In fact, if you were in a room full of people who've been on the weight management rollercoaster, you'd see a lot of hands in the air right next to yours.
What is it about typical weight loss approaches that leaves so many people frustrated? What's missing?
The answer: Many cookie-cutter weight loss approaches don't understand your Body Story--your unique internal narrative that goes beyond what's visible in the mirror.
You see, your body has its own story, one that's broken down into two important parts.
The first part of your Body Story is what's told through numbers. Measurements like your age, weight, and body mass index (BMI)—these numbers tell a story that's a snapshot of how your body's working right now.
The second part of your Body Story is based on the experiences that have shaped your body into what it is today:
How you've approached food at different times in your life
What kind of physical activity you do
Your mental health, stress, family dynamics, and relationships--and how you manage them
All of these experiences have a strong influence on our lives--including our relationship with food, our self-image, and our self-esteem.
Your Ro-affiliated Coaching Team will help you uncover the first part of your Body Story with metabolic testing, which analyzes how they can effectively treat you, as well as raise any flags for health conditions and how to address them. And through both our educational email series and your Ro-affiliated Coaching Team, you'll explore the second part of your Body Story-enabling you to create a roadmap for successful weight management.
As you embark on this journey toward the healthiest you, we'll be with you every step of the way, working with you to understand--and re-write--your Body Story.
And with your new chapter in hand, you'll be ready to truly do everything right.
