Around the world, over one million sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are acquired daily. The majority of STIs have no symptoms or only mild symptoms that may not be recognized as an STI. Left untreated, some can be deadly, while others can have serious reproductive health consequences. Some STIs are becoming more resistant to treatment, while the transmission rates of others are falling due to the use of vaccines.
