Gina Allegretti, MD

Gina Allegretti, MD - Contributor Avatar

Gina Allegretti is a board-certified physician. A lifetime New Yorker, she completed her medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, Pediatrics residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, and Pediatric Infectious Disease fellowship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in Manhattan. Her passion for infectious disease ensures that she never passes up a chance to share microbe-related trivia or humor. During her clinical career she worked at inpatient and outpatient settings, often with a focus on treating underserved populations, educating patients and families, and training future physicians. Previously, Dr. Allegretti served as a Course Director and Professor at the CUNY School of Medicine in Manhattan, where she remains an adjunct faculty member. She hails from Staten Island, New York, and lives amidst a large group of boisterous, traditional Italian family members (meaning frequent unexpected family drop-ins are the norm and privacy is a myth!). When she isn’t writing, Dr. Allegretti can be found crocheting for a cause, baking hundreds of holiday cookies, avidly reading mystery/fantasy/sci-fi, and being a dog mom to her Havanese, Cooper.
