Joanna Jan, MD

Joanna Jan, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician, medical writer, and medical reviewer with over a decade of experience in clinical medicine, medical education, and evidence-based health communication. She earned her medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and completed her residency training in internal medicine at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Jan's interest in medical writing grew from her experiences caring for patients in primary care and urgent care settings. Throughout her clinical career, she saw firsthand how difficult it can be for people to navigate the healthcare system and find trustworthy, understandable health information. Her experiences as both a physician and a patient reinforced the importance of making medical information accessible, accurate, and actionable.

After practicing primary care and urgent care medicine in Los Angeles, Dr. Jan transitioned into medical editing and content development. She’s worked on both clinician-facing and patient-focused educational content, collaborating with physician reviewers and editorial teams to evaluate medical literature, interpret clinical guidelines, and translate complex health information into clear, evidence-based resources. She is also a current contributor to GoodRx Health.

Outside of work, Dr. Jan enjoys running, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her partner, daughter, and cats.
