Zoloft, also known by its generic name sertraline, is an antidepressant in a class of medications known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is used to treat several psychiatric disorders both on and off label, including anxiety disorders and depression. The FDA recommends adults start at a dose of 50 mg/day when using Zoloft for anxiety or depression. This can be increased weekly up to a maximum of 200 mg/day.
