Wegovy can be expensive but there are ways to reduce the financial burden for your pharmaceutical needs. We asked Dr. Felix Gussone, MD about whether it’s possible to get Wegovy for free.

Wegovy Important Safety Information: Read more about serious warnings and safety info.

How can you get Wegovy for free?

A package of Wegovy contains four pens, each pre-filled with a single dose of Wegovy. Without insurance, the list price of Wegovy is $1,349.02 per package, which comes out to $16,188.24 per year.

If you don’t have health insurance, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to get Wegovy for free. However, you might be able to get the monthly costs down to $0 if you have commercial or private health insurance and get your cost down by up to $500 a month if you’re an uninsured cash payer.

Unlike the medication Ozempic, people without health insurance aren’t eligible for free Wegovy through the Novo Nordisk Patient Assistance Program (PAP). However, Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer of Wegovy, offers a savings program for those with private or commercial insurance. Through that program, you may pay as little as $0 for a 28-day supply of Wegovy for the first 12 prescriptions. If you pay cash for your prescriptions or your commercial insurance does not cover Wegovy, you can save up to $500 per 28-day supply of Wegovy. In other words, the lowest price you’d pay for a month's supply of Wegovy without insurance is around $850.
