Surging demand for Wegovy has created a major supply shortage that has left many patients empty-handed. We spoke to Dr. Felix Gussone, MD, about the latest on the current Wegovy shortage and when Wegovy will be available again.

When will Wegovy be available again?

This may come as a surprise to you, but Wegovy is actually available and in stock—however, that’s only the case for the larger doses of 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg.

The three lowest doses of Wegovy—0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, and 1 mg—are still listed under “limited availability” on the Food and Drug Administration’s drug shortage list, and the duration of shortage is "to be decided.” That means that if you’ve taken Wegovy for weight loss for a while and your healthcare provider has already titrated your dosage up to 1.7 mg or 2.4 mg of weekly Wegovy, you shouldn’t be affected by the current shortage. But if you want to start taking Wegovy, it can be more difficult to find, and it remains unclear when the 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, and 1 mg Wegovy dosages will be available again.

Here is where you can find Wegovy in stock.

Novo Nordisk, the company that manufactures the drug, says the reason for the current shortage is demand for the drug that continues to outpace production of Wegovy.
